PDO Threads

How PDO Threads can stimulate collagen and combat ageing

You’ve probably seen the little pink needles in faces all over your social media, but not quite sure what they do or why you would need them in your regime? As we age, our skin’s ability to produce collagen decreases — reducing the skin’s structural support that holds everything together.

PDO, or polydioxanone, threads are similar to the polydioxanone sutures used surgically for decades. The new threads are strategically placed in the dermis of the face to lift the skin. As the thread dissolves over 3 to 4 months, it stimulates fresh collagen production at a rate that doesn’t occur naturally in people over the age of 30. This process supports our race against the biological clock to beat the negative vectors of ageing, such as sagging and deep wrinkles such as radiating crows feet, and nasolabial folds - you can even put them in your neck and body!

PDO threads work in tandem with Botox and dermal filler treatments because they are great for the lines that aren't caused by dynamic muscular movement and they won’t create too much volume if your face is already full.

Treatments at Indigo Aesthetics Ashgrove typically take an hour. Local anaesthetic is administered for comfort to ease moderate pain, and downtime is minimal with swelling and bruising localised to the treated area. Yearly treatments will support collagenesis and rejuvenation of the skin to keep both men and women looking younger.
